FKF Premier League outfit Wazito Football Club is set to shift it’s base from Nairobi to Kisumu after the ownership of the team was changed.

The 10 year old club has been sold to Kisumu based engineer Joel Odongo, former owner Ricardo Badoer has confirmed.

Wazito, formerly owned by The University of Nairobi has been under the ownership Ricardo Badoer since April 2019 when he took ownership with high hopes of transforming the team to a giant professional soccer club.

Before the end of last season FKF Premier League campaign, the club was rumoured to be bankrupt as the players and members of the technical bench went for months without pay.

The team survived the relegation by a whisker after winning the relegation/promotion playoff matches against National Super League giants Murang’a Seal FC.

With the change of base to Kisumu, Wazito will enjoy the rich fan base of defunct top tier clubs Sony Sugar FC, Chemilil Sugar FC and Western Stima FC who resided from the region.

Wazito FC is currently headed by former Harambee stars striker Fred Ambani.
