Munene pens down one year contract extension with AFC Leopards.

AFC Leopards left back Washington Munene has renewed his contract with Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards for a further one year.

Munene’s deal with “Ingwe” was almost coming to an end and the club saw it necessary to renew.

The 25 year old player has been at the den since 2019 when he joined on a one year long loan deal from Wazito FC. 

In October 2020, He sealed a permanent move with the 13 times Kenyan champions for two seasons, Managing to bag 7 goals in the two seasons.

In July, He captained the side to win the Elijah Lidonde Memorial Cup in Kakamega where they beat Nzoia Sugar FC 8-7 on post match penalties, Winning his first silverware with the team.

The former Nairobi Stima FC prodigy joins a bunch of players who have penned down new deals at the Patrick Aussems coached side.

Others who have signed new deals include Tedian Esilaba, Robert Mudenyu, Jaffary Owiti and Clifton Nyakeya.

Leopards will start their 2022/23 FKFPL season against rivals Kakamega Homeboyz FC at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
