30 coaches undergoing CAF C coaching

The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is currently hosting a month-long CAF C course that kicked off on Monday.

The course is designed to help coaches advance their knowledge of the game and enhance their coaching skills. The opening ceremony of the course was graced by the FKF National Executive Member for Central region Davis Chege, who urged the coaches to take advantage of the opportunity presented to them and gain as much knowledge as they can to become better coaches.

He said, “This is a very good opportunity for you as a coach to grow your football knowledge that you will use to develop players and lead teams. It is important to seize the opportunity, soak in the knowledge, and use it to become a better coach.”

The CAF C course is being conducted by FKF FIFA Instructors Leonard Odipo and Stanley Okumbi, who are expected to offer the coaches invaluable insights into various aspects of the game. The course is set to run until May 3, 2023, during which time the coaches will be taught theoretical and practical aspects of the game, including game analysis, tactics, and team management.

Among the attendees are Lawrence Webo, the goalkeeping coach for AFC Leopards, Dorcas Tabitha, the assistant coach for Ulinzi Starlets, and former internationals James Situma and Terry Ouko. The presence of such experienced and knowledgeable individuals in the course is an excellent opportunity for the other coaches to learn from their experiences and expertise.

John Njogu Kamande, the Area MCA and Ruiru Sports academy director, was also present, and his participation highlights the importance of sports in developing individuals and communities. The CAF C course is a significant step towards improving the quality of football coaching in Kenya, and it is expected to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the sport in the country.
