Raila Odinga respond to power sharing claims

Raila Odinga insists that Azimio have no intention to share power with the Kenya Kwanza party.

In a statement posted on Thursday, Odinga made it clear that his party was not interested in any kind of power-sharing agreement with what he described as an “illegitimate regime” that came to power through a “civilian coup.”

“We wish to make it absolutely clear that we are not interested in power sharing with Kenya Kwanza,” Odinga said in the statement. “In fact, our position remains that Kenya Kwanza is an illegitimate regime that is in power through a civilian coup.”

The statement comes amid speculation that Odinga was considering a power-sharing deal with the Kenya Kwanza party. However, Odinga’s remarks seem to have put an end to any such possibility.

“We have instructed our team to make this clear,” Odinga added in the statement.

The Kenya Kwanza party has not yet responded to Odinga’s statement.

Kenya has been politically divided since the 2022 elections, which were marred by allegations of rigging and violence. Odinga, who lost to William Ruto, contested the results in court but lost.

Since then, Odinga has led a campaign to push for political reforms, including changes to the electoral system. The Azimio coalition, which he leads, has also been calling for a national dialogue to address the country’s political and social challenges.
