Malkia Strikers Squad Named Ahead Of FIVB Challenger Cup In France

Kenya Volleyball Federation & National Olympic Committee Of Kenya officially unveiled Malkia Strikers’ provisional squad in a press conference on Monday.

The team is set to commence non-residential local training on June 20, 2023, at Nyayo National Stadium before embarking on a one-month training camp in Morocco. Their ultimate goal is to prepare for the FIVB Challenger Cup in France from July 27-30, where they aim to secure points in the FIVB ranking.

Following the FIVB Challenger Cup, the team will travel to Cameroon for the 2023 Africa Nations Cup, taking place from August 6-16. Malkia Strikers will strive to reclaim the title they lost to Cameroon in 2019.
The points accumulated in the FIVB Challenger Cup and the performance in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations will be crucial for the team’s qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Africa has only one slot available for Olympic qualification. The provisional squad, consisting of 16 players, will be reduced to 16 before the team departs for the month-long training camp in Morocco.

The official presentation of the squad was attended by notable figures such as Mr. Francis Mutuku (NOC-Kenya Secretary General), CBD Nyaberi (Acting KVF President), Kenneth Tonui (KVF Treasurer), Mr. Edward Kisaka, Coach Japheth Munala, Coach Paul Bitok, Team Physio Sarah Karongo, and members of the press.
Malkia Strikers have assembled a strong team to face the upcoming challenges, and fans eagerly anticipate their performances in the FIVB Challenger Cup and the Africa Nations Cup.
