Erick Omondi Raises Over KES 300,000 for Mathare Man Arrested by Police after Protesting the Teargassing of His Daughter

  • Erick Omondi raised Kenya shillings 300,000 for a Mathare man detained for protesting the teargassing of his daughter during a live session on social media. 
  • Juma was arrested during the three-day countries’ demonstration and released with a number of others on July 21st 2023.

For the past two weeks, the country has been in a state of protest. Raila Odinga, the opposition leader, was among leaders who had directed the demonstrations. Several people have since died in the interim, and others have sustaining serious injuries.

Among the areas affected, include The opposition strongholds and the Slums areas where Juma was among the victims.

According to Juma’s wife, they were teargassed while at home with their young daughter. The infant lost oxygen and was rushed to a near by hospital, where she was treated and released. Juma became enraged as a result of the incident and losing his cool and ended up confronting the men in uniform.

It was then that a police posing as a journalist unexpectedly apprehended him. After multiple beatings, Juma got carried to the police waggon. As a result, his harm was broken.

Erick Omondi Raising 300k within few hours for Juma

Erick Omondi, the self-proclaimed president of comedy, made Juma a surprise visit while he was in police jail. The comedian also helped him get out of the courts before hosting a fundraiser.

Erick Omondi only needed a few hours to raise over Ksh 300,000 for the man. The money was raised through his social media channels, where he was streaming live on. Erick has Millions of fans who follow his pages.

During the live streaming, thousands of followers were watching live. The funds were transferred directly to Juma’s Mpesa mobile number.

Juma will have to utilise the money to help his daughter’s treatment as well as his own.
