Matiang’i among those present as President Ruto chairs first cabinet meeting

President William Ruto on Tuesday morning chaired his first Cabinet meeting since being elected President.

The meeting brought together all the Cabinet Secretaries including Interior CS Fred Matiang’i who had not made a public appearance since the new administration was ushered in.

‘President William Ruto is currently chairing his first Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi,’ State House announced.

Other CSs in attendance included Peter Munya (Agriculture), Ambassador Amina Mohamed (Sports), Najib Balala (Tourism), Raychelle Omamo (Foreign Affairs), Eugene Wamalwa (Defence), Joe Mucheru (ICT) as well as Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua and Attorney General Kihara Kariuki.

Matiang’i, Munya and Gicheru openly campaigned for Ruto’s opposing camp during the campaign period and were sure their preferred candidate Raila Odinga will form the next government.
