Harambee stars hold Ivory coast

Kenya recorded a goalless draw against Ivory coast. The encounter was a battle for the 2026 World cup qualification. This was a second draw for the stars within a space of four days. On Sunday the Engin Firat coached side were held to a 1-1 draw against Burundi.

Coach Engin Firat made only one change from the side that started against Burundi with defender Alphonse Omija replacing Clifton Miheso.

Harambee stars encountered several chances. The match kicked off on a slow note. The first attempt from the visitors came up on the 23rd minute after Seko Fofana’s missed the cross bar. Kenya’s defense line remained solid for long.In the 37th minute,Olunga should have done better than hitting his low shot wide.

However,the first half of the match ended barren.The second half commenced with high pressure from Ivory coast.Timothy Ouma was rested for Kenneth Muguna.Additionally,Duke Abuya replaced Chris Erambo.Ivory coast striker hit the cross bar again on the 84th minute.

Finally,the full time draw remained 0-0.Kenya remains third in group F from four matches.Ivory leads the group with 10 points from four matches.

Furthermore,the nine group winners will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World cup. While the four best group runners up will compete in the play offs.
