Slum Boys Disarm Soldiers in Dandora FKFPL Thriller

  • Musa Masika’s 74th minute strike earns Slum boys Victory over Soldiers.
  • Mathare United make winning ways comeback after two consecutive defeats.
  • Coach Kamau impressed with charges, Nyaudo disappointed with Ulinzi’s performace.

Mathare United edged past Ulinzi Stars in a narrow 1-0 victory in a tense FKF Premier League clash staged at Dandora Stadium, Nairobi on Saturday.

Musa Masika’s second half strike was enough for the slum boys to disarm the soldiers as they returned to winning ways after two back-to-back defeats to Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards respectively.

The former Kenya U-20 ace goal marked his tally to six since his acquisition from Gor Mahia during the FKFPL mid-season window and helped the side move to 10th on the log with 40 points as Ulinzi dropped down to 11th.

In a post match interview with Azam TV Sports, Mathare United head coach John Kamau praised his charges from the win and expressed confidence in his boys ahead of the two final games of the season.

“The game was so tense and you could think league leaders were battling for the championship , however the win relieves pressure on us going towards the final league matches”, Kamau said.

On the other hand, Ulinzi Stars tactician Danston Nyaudo  expressed his disappointment from the defeat slamming his players for not sticking to the game plan and called them to act come next season.

“I am very disappointed with these results and I hope my players will grow beyond this in the coming season, because the way we planned is not what we exhibited”, Nyaudo said.

When asked about what might have caused his side to lose, the veteran manager noted that fatigue might have contributed them to drop points at Dandora but expressed a sight of improvement ahead of them in the upcoming fixtures against Gor Mahia and Shabana.
