Alai in Trouble Over Runda Land Dispute

A heated legal battle is brewing after Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai was accused of violently taking over private land in the upscale Runda area. The land in question is said to be owned by Cancer Investments Ltd, a Nairobi-based firm that now wants court protection following the alleged invasion.

The incident reportedly happened on March 31, 2025, and has since raised serious legal and political concerns.

Violent Entry Reported, Police Notified

According to the complainant, Alai arrived at the scene accompanied by several individuals who were allegedly armed with crude weapons. The group is accused of forcefully gaining entry, causing property damage, and even physically attacking the company’s director.

The matter was formally reported to Runda Police Station and recorded under OB number 31/03/2025.

Firm Defends Ownership of Land

Cancer Investments maintains it is the rightful owner of the land, having purchased it legally on January 13, 1992, from Transnational Bank of Kenya. The company says it has been in continuous possession of the land since then, paying all necessary bills and never entering into any agreement or deal with Alai.

The firm emphasized that it holds all the valid ownership documents, and the title deed remains in the custody of Diamond Trust Bank.

Legal Action to Stop Further Interference

Following the alleged takeover, Cancer Investments has filed a case in the Environment and Land Court seeking a temporary court order. They want Alai and anyone acting on his behalf stopped from stepping on the land or beginning any construction until the full case is heard and determined.

Court Set to Hear Case Mid-May

The matter is now officially before the courts, with the hearing set for May 19, 2025. Justice Mohamed Kullow is expected to preside over the case that could have wider implications both legally and politically, depending on the outcome.

All eyes are now on the courtroom as the showdown looms.
