AFC Leopards Mourns Death of Secretary General Gilbert Andugu

13-times Kenyan Premier League champions AFC Leopards Sports Club are mourning the sudden demise of their secretary general Mr. Gilbert Andugu who died on Tuesday morning, the club has announced.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of passing of our Secretary General Mr. Gilbert Andugu. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Andugu’s family, friends and relatives, may his soul Rest in Peace, “Ingwe” stated via their social media handles.

The late Andugu had been out of limelight with his last public appearance being in March during the “Mashemeji Derby” at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi and he is reportedly to have been sick for a while, receiving outpatient medication in certain hospitals until early this month when he was admitted in Kitengela, Kajiado county where he succumbed unfortunately.

The soccer administrator has been at the helm of Leopards as Secretary general since 2022, serving his first term and when he was elected and dies 55 days to the club leadership polls though the deceased had declared no interest in defending his post citing personal reasons.

Several football clubs and football enthusiasts have channeled their message of condolence to the AFC Leopards fraternity among them being Shabana FC, Ulinzi Stars, Police FC as well as popular football commentator Fred Arocho.

More details about his funeral are yet to be revealed, may his soul find solace in eternity.
