Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is reportedly exploring an interest in Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim for their vacant managerial role. This comes after the departure of Antonio Conte, who left the club after only 17 games in charge.

Amorim, who is widely considered as one of the brightest young coaches in Europe, has impressed in his three years in charge of Sporting Lisbon, having won both the league and the Portuguese Cup.

Tottenham eye Arsenal tormenter

He has now led Sporting to the Europa League quarter-finals after defeating Premier League leaders Arsenal in the last 16, and overcoming Spurs in the Champions League group stage earlier this season.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are not the only club showing interest in the Portuguese coach, as he has also been linked with a potential move to Chelsea. However, Tottenham is said to be actively considering Amorim as a potential candidate to take over as their next manager.

The report also claims that Julian Nagelsmann, who has been linked with both Chelsea and Spurs, prefers a move to the Blues. It is believed that the German coach has major support at Tottenham, but the club is facing competition from Chelsea in securing his services.

Tottenham candidates

Other candidates for the Tottenham job reportedly include ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot, and Burnley manager Vincent Kompany. However, it is unlikely that Spurs will re-appoint former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who left the club for Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.

With Tottenham looking to return to the top of English football and secure a spot in European competitions, the decision of who to appoint as their next manager is crucial. Ruben Amorim, with his impressive track record at Sporting Lisbon, could be the perfect candidate to take the club forward.
