On Saturday afternoon, Manchester City’s forward Riyad Mahrez made history by breaking Didier Drogba’s record and becoming the African player with the most assists in Premier League history. Mahrez achieved this feat by registering his 56th top-flight assist in the 4-1 victory over Liverpool at the Etihad.

The game started with Liverpool taking the lead after a goal from Mohamed Salah, but City managed to equalize before the halftime break through Julian Alvarez. In the second half, City took control of the game, and Mahrez played a crucial role in their success by setting up Kevin De Bruyne for the second goal of the game. City went on to win the match with further goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish.

Mahrez’s achievement is a testament to his skill and contribution to the Premier League. The Algerian international has also scored 82 goals in the competition, which he has won four times. He was named PFA Player of the Year for the 2015/16 season after helping Leicester City win the title.

After the game, Mahrez expressed his joy on social media, stating, “Superb result and stellar performance from everyone today. We keep believing, always #alhamdulillah.” The 32-year-old’s impressive performance and record-breaking achievement have further cemented his place as one of the top players in the Premier League.
