“Mimi Nimezoea Akala.” Yesu Wa Tongaren Turns Down Shoes as a Gift
- Yesu Wa Tongaren refused to take shoes as a gift, vowing to wear his native ‘Akala’ attire instead.
- He could, however, accept other commodities and items from well-wishers who had volunteered to help.
Journalists and well-wishers from various media outlets paid a visit to the self-proclaimed Jesus of Tongaren. Following his release from detention during the ongoing government crackdown on religious leaders, he was then given several gifts.
Yesu wa Tongaren requested assistance from a journalist shortly after his release from custody. He begged all journalists who wanted to aid his daughter, who had started college, to at least have cooking gas and financial assistance from well-wishers.

Yesu Wa Tongaren was then visited by several people who came to his aid at his home in Bungoma County. Among them were journalists from various media houses. 2Mbili, a Youtuber, presented Yesu wa Tongaren with gifts that included a new iPhone and some cash on top.
According to the content creator, he claimed to have been sent by a businessman from Mombasa named Kido. They also promised Yesu wa Tongaren that they would return and take him to a driving school.

As seen in the clip, Yesu wa Tongaren was asked to be given shoes so that he may abandon the traditional, A’Kala’, but he refused.

As heard his response, he claimed that such shoes he will wear in heaven, and he will keep his original traditional ones, which he cherishes the most.
He did, however, thank those who came and promised to invite them to Christ’s celebration which will take place at his home in July.
