  •  The hunger in prison has proved unbearable for the preacher who allegedly brainwashed people to starve to death to see Jesus. In another event, the preacher asked journalists to buy him milk and deliver it to his remand cell.
  • Controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie is not new to the headlines, but this time for another reason.

Mackenzie is in remand after being arrested over alleged mass killings where detectives have so far unearthed more than 200 bodies at his farm in Shakhahola, Kilifi County. According to him, the media has made so much money from airing his horrifying tales and it is only natural to ‘rudisha mkono’ by buying him food.

In a video circulating online, Mackenzie is recorded telling the journalists that they should appreciate the fact that they are free unlike him who is in prison.

“Ile hela mmeunda hamuwezi ninunulia hata mkate. Mimi nimekaziwa hata siwezi kupata pesa. Si mniletee hata angalau pakiti ya maziwa,” he said, loosely translated to, (You folks should feed me with some of the proceeds you’ve made from my stories. I am in custody, so I can’t make money. Please bring me even a packet of milk.)

Why Pastor Mackenzie was arrested

The Good News International Church leader, which has since been declared a cult, has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Mackenzie is linked to a cult where he allegedly brainwashed his faithful to fast until they met Jesus.

Since his arrest, a team of detectives and joint security personnel have been conducting an operation on his farm in Shakahola where they’ve so far dug out shallow graves with over 200 bodies. Despite that, the preacher maintains that he is innocent as the victims willingly fasted.

Pastor Mackenzie’s follower explains

Meanwhile, one of the preacher’s past followers came out to share the activities of the controversial ‘Man of God’. Titus Katana, a former Mackenzie follower disclosed that he left the Good News International Church after Mackenzie introduced new restrictions.

“It came to a point where too many laws were introduced in that church. For example, asking women not to braid their hair, (saying) people should not go to the hospital, people should not go to school,” Katana said as reported by Nation.

Katana further revealed that things went from bad to worse after another church member disclosed to him that the preacher had plans to force his followers to starve to death for them to find God.

According to Katana, the devotees were required to sell their ‘earthly possessions’ like houses and factories to go to the Shakahola forest to wait for Jesus. According to the fasting schedule allegedly drafted by Mackenzie, children were required to fast first, followed by single people, with the pastor’s family being the last group to fast.
