- In 2021, Cherono Ali Riziki murdered a Dutch national named Herman Rouwenhorst at his Shanzu Roco Apartments.
- According to a story published by Nation Media, the scheme was meticulously planned and executed a month before the fateful night.
Cherono allegedly met with a friend named Nekesa, and they became so close that Cherono began detailing her plans to murder her husband to seize all of his belongings.
Ms. Nekesa introduced her to his friend, Omondi AKA Rashid, and Cherono felt free to tell him that he was looking for a hitman to kill Herman during the planned period.
Omondi claimed that it was entirely possible to carry out the murder and that as long as he was suitably compensated, he would ensure that Herman was no more.
The arrangements began in May 2021, and on June 3, 2021, the pals ensured that they would finish Herman that night when he returned home.
The businessman returned home and ate his dinner as usual before going to bed to get up to make his life even better.
Cherono is claimed to have never wanted her husband to notice anything, so she had Nekesa usher in the hitmen while she pretended to be in bed with him, ensuring that the scene was quiet and free of suspicion.
On that June 3, 2021, night, Cherono permitted Nekesa to stay for the night in room 9, and because she was a frequent guest who had previously worked there as a house manager, no one asked her questions because they knew she was friends with Cherono.

Bokoro, the guard, let Nekesa into the apartment even though Herman was unaware of her presence. Nekesa was in charge of the communication, and before she could let the hitmen into the flat, she warned Cherono, stating that the guard dogs would make some strange noise when Omondi and his group arrived.
Cherono devised a method to render the dogs unresponsive, and she distributed poisoned meat to the dogs to completely incapacitate them and prevent them from barking.
At midnight, Omondi called Nekesa to say he had arrived at the gate and wanted to be let in, but the guard would not let him in.
Nekesa instantly went to where Bokoro, the guard, was and told him that Omondi was his guest, therefore he should just let him in, stating that there was no danger.

The two went to room 9, where Nekesa was staying, and after a few hours, Omondi left the room with a blunt instrument, only to call Nekesa outside 45 minutes later. When she came, she discovered Bokoro tied and lying down in pain as a result of the injustices committed by Omondi, who had hit him with a blunt weapon.
This occurred after a scuffle in which Bokoro refused to allow more men inside who claimed to be coming to visit Omondi, and he attacked the guard to silence him and enable the other hitmen into the building.
Omondi and his crew of hitmen wasted no time in entering the room where Herman was resting and murdering him as planned.
They returned and killed Bokoro the guard, preventing him from reporting the crime to the officials. Cherono paid the agreed-upon money to Nekesa and Omondi before they cleaned up to conceal the evidence.
Despite everything, police and forensic science detectives were able to identify the culprits in the murders of Herman and Bokoro.

Cherono, Nekesa, and Omondi were arrested, and their case is still pending in court. Today, Nekesa was found guilty of being the mastermind of the murder after revealing how she was behind the communication and arranging everything until the last minute when the two were killed.
Nekesa claimed that Cherono persuaded her because she wanted Herman killed. Her aim was simply to acquire all of Herman’s holdings, as he was a well-known business magnate with successful projects in Shanzu.

Initially, the lawyers for Nekesa and Omondi pleaded with the court not to mention their clients to protect their images, but the judges at the Mombasa High Court revealed that there was no way they were going to handle the case with anonymous people, so they claimed that Omondi and Nekesa’s names had to be mentioned to make the maneuver even easier.
