Harambee Starlets defender confident quality football can lift them past Albania

Kenyan international football player Phoebe Owiti has stated that the quality of football will determine the outcome of their international friendly match against Albania.

Owiti, who currently plays for Turkish side Hakkarigucuspor, expressed her excitement about representing her country and the team’s determination to make Kenya proud.

Harambee Starlets first meeting with Albania

In her words, “This is the first time we are playing Albania, and they are also playing us for the first time, and hence, only football can determine the winner.” She added, “We have stayed out for a year and a half, and now that we have this opportunity, we are going to make Kenya proud.”

The Kenyan team has been preparing for the match, with all local-based players having reported to camp for training. They will be joined by their international counterparts later in the week. The team is scheduled to leave for Albania on April 8, 2023, and play on April 11, 2023.

Owiti, who previously played for Vihiga Queens, said that the team is motivated and the mood in camp is great, with everyone working together to prepare for Albania.

The midfielders include Merceline Wayodi (Vihiga Queens), Ketsia Ngaira (Ulinzi Starlets), Monalizer Anyango (Zetech Sparks), Sheryl Angachi (Ulinzi Starlets), Mercylne Anyango (Batumi women- Georgia), Lorna Nyarinda (Thika Queens), Maximila Robi (Kibera Soccer), Janet Moraa (Vihiga Queens), Elizabeth Wambui (Gaspo Women), Violet Nanjala (Association Municipal de Layaauone Football Feminine), Vivian Corazone (Simba Queens), and Cynthia Shilwatso (Kryvbas Women).
