Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa’s fastest man, is grateful for his wife’s unwavering belief in his dreams.

He says Laventa Amutavi supported him financially when he was struggling to make ends meet, and she continues to be his biggest fan.

Omanyala and Amutavi met in 2016 at a kibandaski, a makeshift food stall. Omanyala was immediately drawn to her, but it took him seven months to win her over.

At the time, Amutavi was a student at Moi University pursuing a degree in social work, while Omanyala was at the University of Nairobi.

Omanyala’s income as a national athlete was minimal, so Amutavi played a pivotal role in supporting the family financially.

Omanyala’s income as a national athlete was minimal, so Amutavi’s financial support was essential. Winning a race would only earn him Sh5,000, which was not enough to cover the family’s expenses.

Despite the financial challenges, Amutavi never wavered in her belief in Omanyala’s dreams. She was his biggest supporter, and she helped him to stay focused on his goals.

As Omanyala’s athletic career took off, he became a public figure and attracted the attention of many admirers. However, he remained committed to his wife and family.

He ignored private messages from women with ulterior motives, and he only engaged with individuals who had genuine intentions.

In an interview with the Kenyan newspaper The Standard, Omanyala said, “I get a lot of messages from women, but I ignore them. I am married and I am faithful to my wife.”

He added, “I know that there are women who are attracted to my success, but I am not interested in them. I am only interested in my wife.”

Omanyala and Amutavi have been married since 2018. They have one child together.

Kawa emphasized that success does not happen overnight and noted Azziad's unwavering ambition to become a superstar, a dream that materialized unexpectedly quickly.
