  • Meta is planning paid subscriptions for advanced AI tools.
  • Main Facebook and Instagram services will stay free for users.
  • New AI features include video creation and smart digital agents.
  • Manus AI technology will play a key role in the new plans.
  • Meta has tested paid options before, including verification and link limits.

Meta is preparing to introduce subscription-based features while keeping its main platforms free to use. Users will still access core services without paying, but advanced tools powered by artificial intelligence may come at a cost.

The move signals a shift toward offering premium options without locking users out of basic features.

Among the paid options being tested is Vibes, an AI-powered video creation tool. The feature is designed to help users turn ideas into visuals using new AI tools.

Meta first revealed Vibes in September as part of an updated Meta AI app, with plans to expand its use under the subscription model.

Meta also plans to include technology from Manus, an AI company with roots in China that it agreed to acquire in December for about $2 billion. Reports say Manus tools will be part of Meta’s paid AI services.

At the same time, Meta will continue selling Manus subscriptions directly to business users.

Meta says Manus technology will help improve its AI by offering “agents” that can handle tasks with little guidance. These tools can plan trips, prepare presentations, or complete other multi-step actions on their own.

Manus claims its system can work independently, unlike many chatbots that need constant user input.

After the acquisition was announced, Chinese authorities said they would review the deal to check if it violated technology export rules or security laws.

Manus is now based in Singapore after relocating from China and has positioned itself as a leader in autonomous AI systems.

This is not Meta’s first move toward paid features. Last year, the company tested limits on how many links some users could share on Facebook unless they subscribed.

In 2023, Meta also introduced a paid verification service, allowing users on Facebook and Instagram to get a blue tick for a monthly fee.

Meta’s latest plans show a clear focus on making money from advanced AI tools, while keeping everyday use free. As testing continues, users may soon see more optional paid features added across Meta’s platforms.
