- Dr Peter Ngumba reveals DNA test results showing he is not the biological father
- Says he has raised the child since birth and built a deep bond
- Mother earlier expressed uncertainty about paternity
Kenyan doctor and DNA-testing advocate Peter Ngumba has opened up about a painful discovery after learning that he is not the biological father of the two-year-old girl he has been raising.
In a TikTok video, he struggled to hold back tears as he shared the outcome.
“I am tearing up because I did a DNA test between myself and my child, who is two years old. I am not the father.”
He said he had recently celebrated her second birthday and even gifted her Sh2,000, a tradition he hoped to continue every year until she turned 25.
Dr Ngumba explained that the child’s mother had earlier admitted she was unsure who the real father was. This pushed him to seek answers through a DNA test.
“At one point, the mother told me she didn’t know who the father was. So, I saw that it was a good time to do a DNA test. When the results came out, I realised I was not the biological father.”
He added that he had long dreamed of having a daughter and hoped she would look exactly like the girl he believed was his.
Despite the painful truth, the doctor reflected deeply on the emotional connection he had formed with the child.
“When the mother told me she was pregnant, I did not believe it at first, but I didn’t deny it. I have taken the child to clinics, bathed her, and cherished the moments when she calls me ‘baba.’”
He encouraged parents across the country to seek clarity when in doubt.
“Right now, I’m just sad, but I urge parents: go do that DNA test.”
The video has triggered huge conversations online, with many Kenyans sharing mixed opinions.
Instagram user Boss Chick Cess wrote:
“Mchimba kisima ameingia wenyewe hapa, wahenga wamefurahi ajab.”
Another user, Mtunecessary, commented:
“Kinyozi amenyolewa jameni.”
