  • President Ruto bought a 720kg Boran bull for Ksh700,000 at Jamhuri Show Grounds.
  • CS Mutai Kagwe also purchased a 630kg bull for Ksh600,000 after outbidding PS Kipronoh Ronoh.
  • The auction is part of the Nairobi International Trade Fair, running until October 5.
  • Last month, Ruto spent Ksh1M on a Chianina bull at the Mombasa ASK Show.

President William Ruto on Wednesday, October 1, acquired a 720-kilogram Boran bull for Ksh700,000 during an auction at the Nairobi International Trade Fair.
The event was held at the Jamhuri Show Grounds, where the Head of State’s bid went uncontested, securing him the prized animal with ease.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutai Kagwe also left the arena with a bull weighing 630 kilograms. His purchase cost Ksh600,000 after a stiff contest against Agriculture Principal Secretary Kipronoh Ronoh.

The bidding began at Ksh300,000. Ronoh briefly led with Ksh450,000 before Kagwe pushed through with Ksh500,000 and eventually sealed the deal at Ksh600,000.

The auction formed part of the ongoing Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF), which opened on September 29 and will close on October 5, 2025. The fair is being held at the Jamhuri Show Grounds along Ngong Road.

This latest purchase comes barely a month after Ruto’s record-breaking Ksh1 million bid at the Mombasa International ASK Show. He won a three-year-old Chianina bull weighing 885 kilograms imported from South Africa.

In that contest, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, and Ruto exchanged bids until the President finally outpaced them with the million-shilling offer.
