  • Bandari FC have parted ways with head coach Ken Odhiambo two games into the new season.
  • His dismissal followed Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Shabana FC at Mbaraki Sports Club.
  • Assistant coach John Baraza has taken charge on an interim basis.
  • Odhiambo, in his third stint at the club, had already faced strained relations with management.
  • The sacking comes amid reports of transfer dealings done without his involvement.

Bandari FC confirmed the departure of coach Ken Odhiambo after a disappointing start to the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season.

His dismissal was sealed following a 1-0 home defeat to Shabana FC, with Brian Michira’s second-half goal proving decisive. The result came after a goalless draw against Kariobangi Sharks in their opening match.

Immediately after Sunday’s game, the board informed Odhiambo that he would not continue as head coach.

When the team resumed training on Tuesday, assistant coach John Baraza led the session as interim boss.

“He is no longer the head coach. The board has this morning informed us of the decision to sever ties with him. For now, assistant coach John Baraza will lead the team as the club works towards appointing a new head coach,” a Bandari player told Mozzart Sport.

Odhiambo’s departure did not come as a shock to insiders. Reports suggest the club had considered cutting ties with him at the end of last season, but high contract costs and failure to reach a mutual agreement kept him in place.

Management also sidelined him from transfer decisions, with several signings made without his consultation. Some new arrivals were reportedly discovered by the coach through social media.

The squad assembled included several former Bandari players, a strategy that had little influence.

In what turned out to be his final interview, Odhiambo expressed frustration over the manner of the defeat to Shabana.

“We gave the opponent all the time and space. It was not even a dangerous move. It is something we should have dealt with. They did not create many chances; they scored from a half-chance,” he said.
