  • Chelsea have won only once in their last five games.
  • Enzo Maresca still has full backing from the club’s hierarchy.
  • Officials blame red cards, a tough schedule, and Champions League demands.
  • Chelsea sit 8th in the Premier League, seven points behind Liverpool.
  • The board will review his progress at the end of the season.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has come under scrutiny after a poor run of results, winning just one of his last five matches. The only victory came in the Carabao Cup against League One side Lincoln City.

Maresca began the season with high expectations after leading Chelsea to a top-four finish last season and lifting the FIFA Club World Cup during the summer. At that time, his position looked very secure. But with the team now eighth in the league, pressure has started to build.

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea’s leadership insists there is no reason to panic. They believe the reaction to defeats against Manchester United and Brighton has been exaggerated. Club chiefs say the extended pre-season schedule and added burden of Champions League football have disrupted the team’s rhythm.

Chelsea have lost five matches since May, four of them after being reduced to ten men. The board also remembers how Maresca endured a difficult stretch last season, winning only three out of twelve games, yet still secured Champions League qualification.

Club officials have set expectations of a top-four finish and good progress in cup competitions, but stress that Maresca will be judged at the end of the season, not mid-campaign. They also believe this year’s squad is stronger, raising optimism for improvement.

For now, the Italian coach retains the full confidence of Chelsea’s hierarchy despite recent struggles.
