An EasyJet pilot caused a stir after being seen completely naked and intoxicated while roaming the Melia Dunas Beach Resort and Spa in Cape Verde. The incident took place in the early hours of August 5, just a day after he checked into the hotel.
Guests reported the pilot stripped off and wandered through the hotel reception, gym, and spa areas, leaving many shocked by his wild behaviour.
The pilot was due to fly a long-haul return flight from Cape Verde to London Gatwick on August 6, a journey of over 4,300 km. However, after the complaints, EasyJet quickly removed him from duty and found another pilot to take over the flight.
EasyJet released a statement saying the pilot was immediately suspended once the airline learned about the incident. They assured the public that passenger and crew safety is their “highest priority” and confirmed that a full investigation is underway.
One hotel guest commented that anyone witnessing the pilot’s naked, drunken state would not feel safe flying with him in control. The incident has sparked serious questions about professionalism and fitness to fly among airline crews.
