- Sports Registrar officially cancels AFC Leopards elections set for June 29, 2025
- Fresh elections now scheduled for June 2026
- Elected officials allowed only two terms of four years each
- Appointed roles like CEO not affected by this rule
- Club asked to provide missing names in leadership list
The Sports Registrar has officially called off AFC Leopards’ elections that were planned for June 29th, citing that the current officials have not yet completed their full legal term. The decision was made after reviewing documents submitted by the club, confirming that office bearers still have another year before a fresh mandate is due.
According to the law, leaders elected into positions such as Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer are entitled to serve four-year terms, with the option of being re-elected for one more term. The Registrar clarified that those currently in office are still within this legal window and therefore eligible to serve until 2026.
Ministry Demands Full List of Club Officials
While confirming the election postponement, the Registrar also directed the club to update its list of officials. The letter pointed out that positions like Deputy Vice Chairman, Assistant Secretary, Organising Secretary, and Women Rep were missing from the records submitted.
It was also emphasized that the election law only applies to elected positions, and not to appointed roles such as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or other similar offices tied to contractual terms.
As a result, AFC Leopards will not head to the ballot this June, with the next elections now slated for June 2026. The club is expected to comply with the outlined instructions and ensure all leadership roles are properly registered ahead of the next polls.
