  • President Ruto dismisses “Ruto must go” slogans as nothing new in Kenya’s political scene.
  • He says past leaders, including Moi, also faced similar chants.
  • Ruto adds that online labels like “Zakayo” and “Kasongo” don’t affect his focus.
  • Emphasizes commitment to development—especially education, electricity, roads, and devolution.

President William Ruto has responded to rising political pressure with a casual shrug. Speaking during a burial in Siaya, he brushed off the “Ruto must go” chants heard in protests and rallies.

He said such slogans are nothing new. From “Moi must go” to “Uhuru must go,” he noted, it’s just another chorus in Kenya’s political songbook.

“Those chants are normal. I’ve heard them all my life,” he said.

Nicknames Don’t Faze Him

Ruto also spoke about the mockery he receives online. From “Zakayo” to “Kasongo,” the President said the names don’t distract him.

“Call me what you want. My eyes are on the goal,” he added.

He made it clear that he won’t be shaken by social media noise or political sideshows.

Focused on His Mandate

Despite the heat, the President says he’s staying on course.

He highlighted education, roads, power connection, and strengthening counties as his key focus areas.

“I’m working on development. Not drama,” he stated firmly.

Public Anger Growing

Ruto’s remarks come at a time when frustrations over the cost of living and governance are rising. Protests have taken place, and hashtags continue to trend.

But even with this discontent, the President says he’s unmoved.

“There’s no crisis. I’m doing my job,” he concluded.
