The president had previously signed an agreement with the Haitian prime minister to send 1,000 special police officers to the Caribbean on a peacekeeping mission.
However, during his speech in the United States, the president was confronted with questions from journalists, notably Royal Media political reporter Ayub. The journalist questioned why the president would send police to a country that had no geographical boundaries with Kenya.
Ayub also questioned the need to send police officers as the north rift is still experiencing security instability and school closures as a result of several bandit attacks. He believes the administration failed to address this issue.
The difficult questioning drew inquiries from Netizens, who joked that the journalist should not board any state-owned flight to Kenya and instead walk there.
