Kenyan content creator Dapa Man has shared a deeply personal account of his time in prison, revealing how a mistaken defilement accusation landed him behind bars and changed the course of his life.

He says the experience was overwhelming from the start, forcing him into a strict prison routine that tested both his mental strength and resilience.

According to Dapa Man, life in custody involved intense responsibilities, including kitchen duties where inmates prepared meals for more than 6,000 people every day.

He explained that three inmates were assigned to sleep in the kitchen to ensure food was ready on time, a task he described as physically demanding and mentally draining.

Although access to food might sound like an advantage, he admitted he often struggled with appetite due to the nature of the environment and workload.

He also revealed that inmates operated a welfare system where small amounts of money were collected during prison visits or earned through minor activities inside the facility.

Some inmates reportedly earned extra income by assisting remand prisoners during kitchen duties, though the funds could only be withdrawn after release.

Dapa Man noted that this system helped many survive life inside prison, despite the harsh conditions.

After his release, he says he had nothing except a bucket, which became the starting point of his journey to rebuild his life.

He later began selling items on the streets as he tried to regain stability and find direction after hardship.

Dapa Man added that discipline learned in prison helped him secure a role in the prison store, where he developed a stronger sense of responsibility.

In a touching moment, the content creator broke down while thanking entertainer and mentor Oga Obinna, crediting him for pulling him away from street life and guiding his early steps in content creation.

He described the support as a turning point that helped him focus on rebuilding his future and career.

Beyond his past struggles, Dapa Man has recently celebrated a major milestone after acquiring land in his hometown, a move he says symbolises progress and stability after years of hardship.

The journey from prison to property ownership marks a significant transformation in his life, reflecting resilience and determination to move forward despite a difficult past.
