Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was spotted on Sunday, July 27, enjoying the polo finale at the Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi. The colourful event brought the 2024–2025 racing season to a close in style.
According to a statement from the Office of the Fourth President, Uhuru was present to cheer on the finalists and celebrate the season’s champions. The highlight was the thrilling final race, which officially concluded this year’s polo calendar.

The former Head of State was seen chatting with Kenyans, greeting guests, and posing for photos with the winning teams. Dressed in a multicoloured African-print shirt, khaki trousers, and a stylish Panama hat, Uhuru stood out with his usual relaxed demeanour.
Over 1,000 fans and dignitaries attended the grand occasion, which also featured the presentation of trophies. Uhuru personally handed out awards to the season’s best performers, continuing a tradition he also observed in 2023 during the previous finale.
Uhuru is known to be a long-time supporter of polo, a game that combines speed, precision, and horsemanship. Played on horseback with 8 players and one small ball, the game lasts 7 and a half minutes per chukka and is considered one of the world’s oldest team sports, with roots tracing back over 2,000 years to ancient Iran.
The former president’s presence added prestige to the event, which has become a key highlight in Kenya’s elite sporting calendar.
