Kwambox and Kerry Martin Bid Farewell to Kiss FM in Emotional Sign-Off

  • April 30 was the final day for Kwambox and Kerry Martin on Kiss FM’s breakfast show.
  • Kwambox said goodbye after 13 years on radio, calling it the end of a big chapter.
  • Kerry Martin also left after 11 years in radio, thanking fans and sharing his growth story.
  • Their exit followed major staff cuts at Radio Africa Group a few days earlier.
  • It is still unknown if their departure was linked to the layoffs or a personal choice.

Wednesday morning, April 30, brought mixed feelings to Kiss FM listeners as the well-known breakfast hosts, Sheila Kwamboka (Kwambox) and Kerry Martin, hosted their last show together. Their strong connection with fans and lively morning presence made their exit emotional and surprising for many.

Kwambox Bids Farewell After 13 Years

Kwambox, known for her energy and confidence on radio, shared a touching message before her final show. She spoke about leaving a part of herself behind and starting a new path in life.

“Stepping into the new you requires letting go of the old you… Tomorrow is the end of a very important chapter in my life,” she wrote.
“For 13 years, radio has been my identity. It’s time for a change.”

Kerry Martin Looks Back with Gratitude

Kerry Martin, who began his radio journey in 2014 on Homeboyz Radio, also shared his thoughts on leaving. With pride and emotion, he talked about his radio experience and how much it meant to him.

As I hang up the mic tomorrow, I do it with a full heart. Grateful. Humbled. Ready,” he said.
“From my first show to leading Kenya’s biggest breakfast show on Kiss 100, it’s been a blessing.”

Exit Comes After Big Changes at the Company

Just days before their goodbye, Radio Africa Group let go of 27 staff members as part of cost-saving changes. While some believe Kwambox and Kerry’s exit is connected to the layoffs, nothing has been confirmed.

The CEO, Martin Khafafa, explained the move in a memo sent on April 25, calling it one of the hardest decisions made by the company.

“These people have been part of us for many years, some for over 20,” the memo read.

Ongoing Restructuring Since Kiss TV Closure

The company has been adjusting its operations since it shut down Kiss TV in July 2024. Radio Africa Group still runs several top media brands in Kenya like Classic FM, The Star, Radio Jambo, East FM, Homeboyz Radio, and others.

Ironically, Homeboyz Radio was the starting point for Kerry Martin’s career, making his exit feel like a full circle moment.

Their voices may be off the air now, but Kwambox and Kerry Martin have left behind a legacy that fans and colleagues won’t forget anytime soon. The question now is—what’s next for them?
