East African Breweries Plc (EABL) has tapped Andrew Kilonzo to become the next Managing Director of Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL). He will officially assume the role on October 1, 2025, succeeding Mark Ocitti, who will exit on September 30.
Kilonzo is currently leading Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), where he has played a key role in boosting regional growth and transforming operations under the EABL umbrella.
The decision to appoint Kilonzo reflects EABL’s firm belief in promoting internal talent. His leadership success at UBL made him a natural pick to drive Kenya’s operations and continue EABL’s legacy of strong performance in the region.
This marks yet another example of the company’s strategic and thoughtful succession planning.
In the same announcement, EABL also confirmed that Yvonne Mwangi, currently serving as MD for Seychelles and the Indian Ocean Islands, will become the Commercial Director for Kenya, also from October 1.
Mwangi brings with her more than 15 years of experience in commercial strategy, marketing, and business planning.
CEO Jane Karuku Applauds Outgoing and Incoming Leaders
Group Managing Director Jane Karuku expressed gratitude to the outgoing KBL boss Mark Ocitti, appreciating his contributions during his term. She also welcomed the incoming team with confidence in their ability to steer the company forward.
“I want to thank Mark Ocitti for his invaluable contribution and welcome Andrew Kilonzo and Yvonne Mwangi into their new roles,” Karuku said.
Karuku noted that the appointments show the strength of EABL’s leadership development efforts, not just within the company but across the wider Diageo network. She emphasized that diversity, growth, and market expansion remain top priorities for the business.
These changes come at a time when EABL continues to lead in the region’s beverage industry. The new leadership team is expected to build on the company’s momentum, expand market reach, and strengthen an internal culture focused on excellence and inclusion.
