Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear that he will not take part in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, despite being approached by several teams involved in the tournament. The 40-year-old turned down all offers, saying not every opportunity is worth chasing.

“Some teams contacted me. Some made sense, others didn’t. You can’t chase everything,” Ronaldo stated.

His current club, Al-Nassr, didn’t qualify for the tournament, and his contract with them ends later this month.

Chapter with Al-Nassr May Be Ending

Ronaldo recently shared an emotional post after Al-Nassr’s final league game in May, sparking talk of a potential exit. He wrote that “the chapter is over,” leading fans to wonder if he was already preparing for a new challenge.

Still, inside sources told BBC Sport that Al-Nassr remains positive about convincing Ronaldo to stay longer.

Future Plans Almost Decided

Ahead of Portugal’s Nations League final clash with Spain, Ronaldo revealed that a decision on his next step is nearly complete. While he didn’t mention where he might be headed, the veteran striker said he’s close to finalising things.

The former Manchester United forward joined Al-Nassr in 2023 after his deal at Old Trafford was terminated.

Ronaldo Still Delivering on the Pitch

Despite the off-field discussions, Ronaldo continues to deliver solid performances. He has netted 99 goals in just 111 matches for Al-Nassr, with 35 of those coming from the most recent season alone.

On Wednesday, he scored the decisive goal in Portugal’s 2-1 win over Germany, helping his country secure a spot in the Nations League final.
