Coaching Trio Suspended at KCB FC Amid Poor Results

  • KCB FC management has suspended head coach Patrick Odhiambo, his assistant Jeffer Odongo, and fitness trainer Eric Muranda with immediate effect.

The decision comes as a response to a string of poor performances that have left the club struggling to meet expectations in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.

Goalkeeping coach Samuel Koko Okoth has been handed the reins albeit on an interim basis.

He will be tasked with steadying the ship as KCB face Nairobi City Stars and AFC Leopards in their final two matches of the 2024/25 FKF PL season.

All eyes will be on Okoth to see if he can inspire a late turnaround and end the season on a positive note.

The Bankers who started the season strongly are currently ranked 9th on the log with 41 points, after 10 wins and an identical 11 draws and loses.

The shake up at KCB comes days after record champions Gor Mahia had sacked coach Sinisa Mihic. The Croatian was sent packing on Monday, over poor results.

He was sacked a day after K’Ogallo managed a barren draw against Murang’a Seal in a Premier League match, with the results denting the Green Armies’ bid for the title this season.

The club in a statement said the coach departs on mutual agreement, but observers maintain he was shown the door because of poor results.

“We have parted ways with head coach Sinisa Mihic on mutual agreement; the two assistants will take charge on an interim basis. We wish Mihic all the best in his endeavours.”

Assistant coaches Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno and Michael Naam are in charge of the team for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season.

Reports indicate that the coach was sacked after ‘losing the dressing room.’ The powers that be at Gor Mahia reportedly felt that the tactician could no longer take the team forward, minus the support of the playing unit.
