Security Withdrawn: Justin Muturi Claims State Targeting Over Criticism

  • Ex-CS Justin Muturi says his security detail was officially withdrawn on Monday evening.
  • He believes the move is linked to his outspoken criticism of President Ruto’s government.
  • Muturi remains defiant, saying the move won’t silence him.
  • He has condemned state-sponsored abductions, citing his son’s ordeal.

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has claimed that his state-provided security has been abruptly taken away, barely two weeks after his dramatic ouster from President Ruto’s cabinet. Addressing journalists on Tuesday, April 8, Muturi disclosed that the decision was executed at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, with no prior warning.

Officers Ordered to Stay Away

According to Muturi, the two officers assigned to him—originally due to his former role as National Assembly Speaker—were told not to report to duty. He alleged that the reason given to the officers was simple and politically charged: “He is fighting the government.”

Muturi Stands His Ground

Firing back at what he terms as intimidation tactics, Muturi didn’t mince his words.

“If this is another attempt to intimidate me, they have dialed yet another wrong number,” he said firmly.

The former CS has been increasingly vocal, especially in condemning what he describes as state-sponsored abductions targeting the youth during and after last year’s anti-government protests.

A Personal Angle

Muturi’s criticism isn’t without a personal connection—his own son was reportedly abducted and later released under unclear circumstances. This experience, he says, solidified his resolve to speak out against the government’s methods, regardless of the risks.

As political temperatures continue to rise, Muturi’s bold defiance could signal a new chapter in the ongoing friction within Kenya’s political elite.
