CS Nominee Geoffrey Ruku Declares Ksh377M Net Worth, Eyes Public Sector Shake-Up

  • Geoffrey Ruku revealed his total wealth is Ksh377 million.
  • Majority of his riches come from shares in a private firm worth Ksh250 million.
  • He also owns land, a family home, vehicles, and significant savings.
  • Ruku plans to introduce a time-tracking system for all government workers.
  • He was nominated to replace Justin Muturi as Public Service CS.

Ruku Breaks Down His Wealth Portfolio

Appearing before the Committee on Appointments on April 14, Public Service CS nominee Geoffrey Ruku put his net worth at Ksh377 million.

The Mbeere North MP noted that a large chunk of this wealth stems from private enterprise, with his Ksh250 million stake in a company being the biggest contributor.

He also disclosed that he owns land and buildings in various regions of Kenya valued at Ksh40 million, while his family residence is worth Ksh60 million.

“I’ve got shares worth Ksh250 million, land and buildings at Ksh40 million, a family house worth Ksh60 million, Ksh50 million in savings and sacco, and vehicles worth Ksh12 million,” Ruku stated.

Big Plans for Public Service Monitoring

Ruku, who was tapped by President William Ruto to replace former CS Justin Muturi, shared part of his vision for the ministry.

He emphasized the need for improved efficiency in government offices by tracking employee productivity and reporting hours.

“There must be a system that connects all institutions. We should be able to tell what time staff report to work, what they achieve, and when they leave,” he told the committee.

According to him, time sheets will be a key feature in revamping the public service to ensure transparency and output-based assessment.
