Prominent city car dealer Khalif Kairo was arrested on the morning of Tuesday, March 25, 2025, moments after attending a court session at Milimani Law Courts. According to preliminary reports, he was apprehended by plainclothes officers and led away under tight security.
Footage seen by The Kenya Times captured Kairo, dressed in a suit and handcuffed, engaging in conversation with the officers before being ushered into a red vehicle.
Fraud Allegations Surface
Kairo’s arrest is reportedly linked to fraud allegations, with claims that he failed to deliver a vehicle to a client. At the time of his arrest, he was in court for the mention of three other cases, all involving similar accusations of defrauding clients.
Kairo Speaks Out
Following his dramatic arrest, Kairo addressed his supporters on X, urging them to pray for him during what he described as a difficult time.
“Can’t keep a man who is determined to win down. We will overcome everything. Keep praying for me, keep supporting me, and keep wishing me well. It’s a tough economy that doesn’t favour youth-driven enterprise lakini calm seas never make good sailors,” he wrote.
He further alleged that his arrest was politically motivated, stating that he is often targeted whenever he makes progress in business.
Kairo, who has now been arrested three times, is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow.
