Brazilian forward Neymar has been recalled to the national squad for the first time in 17 months ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.
The 33-year-old last featured for the Selecao in October 2023, when he suffered a knee injury against Uruguay. After a disappointing stint with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, Neymar returned to Santos in January and has since impressed with three goals and three assists in seven appearances.
Chasing History with Brazil
With 128 caps, Neymar is second only to Cafu (142) in appearances for Brazil. He is also the country’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals, surpassing the legendary Pele.
Strong Premier League Presence
Brazil, currently fifth in the Conmebol standings with 18 points from 12 matches, will host Colombia on March 21 before traveling to face leaders Argentina on March 26.
The squad includes several Premier League stars, such as goalkeepers Alisson (Liverpool) and Ederson (Manchester City), defenders Gabriel (Arsenal) and Murillo (Nottingham Forest), as well as midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton (Newcastle).
