- Sammy Owino Kempes to vie for FKF President
- He narrated on how he is going to shape the Kenyan Football if elected as the FKF President
Former Harambee stars and Gor Mahia FC star Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino has narrated poor leadership at the top as the main problem facing Kenyan Football.Owino,born in Ziwani is one of the top aspirants eying for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Presidency.
Speaking in an interview at Radio Jambo,Kempes highlighted on how he will the shape he Kenyan Football if elected.
“A good leader should show out good governance,if you are sorrounded by incompentent people,basically you will deliver poor governance.In my administration I will put on board only competent individual”,said Sammy Omolo.
On matters concerning grasssroot football,Kempes noted that poor infrustructure has greatly contributed to the slow death of grassroot football.He narrated that the absence of the Youth National League is killing talents.
“There is no way you can develope young talents without a Youth National League,there should be a league connecting all counties.I will work together with the Ministry of Education to ensure that we start nurturing soccer takents from the school level.” he added.
Kempes added on saying that he will deal effectively with corruption so as to develope Kenyan Football.
“Corruption is the biggest enemy killing our Football.There is a lot of mismanagement in our clubs.I will have to set different levels and standards on how to run the top tier leagues;The FKF Premier League and the FKF Women Premier League.” he noted.
However, Sammy “Kempes” Owino also highlighted on the security concerns during the game.He described security as a top priorit to be considered on the pitch.The former Umeme FC and Re-Union FC playmaker also promised on providing enough training to coaches mostly those in remote areas.
“I’ll develope an academy which will be involved in nurturing and training coaches all over the nation.We have to train our coaches well.” said Owino.
Sammy Kempes Owino is one of the FKF Presidential aspirants who will be submitting their presidential nomination forms tomorrow Monday 14th October 2024.Other top seat contestants includes Tom Alila (former NEC Nyanza), Doris Petra (Current FKF Vice President), Barry Otieno (former FKF CEO), Hussein Mohammed (CEO Extreme sports), Cleophas Shimanyula (Chairman,Kakamega Homeboyz FC), Sam Ochola (Gor Mahia FC SG), Sam Nyamweya (former FKF President) and Jack Oguda former CEO Kenya Premier League.
