Kenya Seven’s began the Paris Olympics campaign with a loss as they went down 31-12 to Argentina in their opener.The battle was staged at Stade De France in Paris on Wednesday 24th July 2024.
Argentina dominated the possession.They were sublime in their game handling and passes as they overwhelmed Shujaa’s defence.The Puma’s were in front 7-5 at the break.
As the game commenced again,Fraga completed his double for Joaquin Pellandini to convert and take a 12-7 lead.
Shujaa’s effort brought a tie after Ojwang was set loose to offload from a tackle and Kelvin Wekesa touched down.Omondi missed the conversion as the teams tied at 12-12.
In the second game against Australia,Kenya again experienced another loss.Australia took the lead just seconds after the kick off.Tony equalized for Kenya pushing to a 7-7 tie.
However,at the break Australia was already leading 14-7.
Australia dominated the game hence emerging with a 21-7 win.Shujaa’s have now suffered two defeats in a raw at the 2024 Paris Olympics.Kenya will wrap up their pool outing against Samoa on Thursday 25th July 2024 at 3pm.
Shujaa’s are making their third Olympic appearance.They first appeared in 2016 where they finished eleventh then in 2020 where they emerged 9th.
