Mining and Blue Economy CS Hassan Joho has come out swinging in defence of President William Ruto, accusing opposition leaders of double standards and empty criticism. Speaking in Taita Taveta during an economic empowerment event, Joho questioned why those attacking Ruto now didn’t act when they held top positions in past governments.
“They were deputy presidents, cabinet secretaries, attorney generals… but what did they do for Kenyans?” Joho asked.
Joho praised President Ruto’s ongoing projects across different regions, saying the Head of State is focused on real development, not politics. He urged Kenyans, especially those from the Coast, to stand with Ruto as he seeks a second term in 2027.
“We want to lead this country one day, but we must support Ruto to finish his 10 years first,” Joho told the crowd.
He also stressed that Coast leaders in government are united and focused. Joho named CS Salim Mvurya and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi as part of a coordinated team working for regional growth from within Ruto’s administration.
“We are inside government, not outside. We are working for our people, not chasing shadows,” he affirmed.
Joho brushed off the current political noise as pointless drama, warning that continuous attacks on the President only distract from progress. He called on the opposition to stop the blame game and give the government room to work.
“Let Ruto do his job. Let’s focus on moving Kenya forward, not pulling each other down.”
