Controversial MP Barasa offers to share Ksh 1 million with constituents

Murder suspect and Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has told his constituents to find him for a share of Ksh 1 million in salary he has earned during the first month of his tenure.

Barasa, who has been in and out of Court battling a murder probe, says he does not deserve his pay as he has not done anything for his constituents who reelected him to parliament in August.

“My people of Kimilili, mulinipigia kura nashukuru. Tangu munichague hakuna kitu nimewafanyia,” he tweeted, Thursday.

“Sisitahili mushahara wowote, sasa ile millioni moja nimelipwa ya mwezi hii nitawaletea. Mukiniona tu nimeingia Kimilili mukuje muchukue na mugawane,” he added.

Barasa was freed on August 24 on a Ksh 10 million bond in a case where he is charged with the murder of his opponent’s aide.

He was accused of shooting his competitor’s aide, Brian Odinga Olunga, 22, during the August 9 elections, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Olunga was a bodyguard to Brian Khaemba, who was contesting to oust UDA’s Barasa on a DAP-K ticket.

The case is set for mention on November 14.
