AFC Leopards got back to winning mojo after a 2-1 triumph over kcb FC at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on sunday afternoon.
Leopards who were bouncing back from last weekend defeat to defending champions Tusker FC bagged their goals courtesy of midseason signings JohnMark Makwatta and Victor Omune at halftime.
The Banker’s got their consolation goal in the second half through Henry Onyango who tapped after a defensive lapse on the Ingwe defense.
KCB have now lost two back to back matches against “bigwigs” Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards respectively.
Still at Kasarani, 2009 KPL champions Sofapaka FC came from behind to record a 2-1 victory at the Annex grounds over Sugar Miller’s Nzoia Sugar FC.
Nzoia netted their goal through James Kibande in the 66th minute via a penalty after he was tripped down by Sofapaka’s keeper Fredrick Odhiambo but their lead didn’t last long enough as the hosts equalized two quick goals through teenage sensation Rody Manga and team captain Lawrence Juma who netted in a penalty against his former employers Nzoia.
The Bungoma based side have now suffered their first away loss since appointment of coach Salim Babu in February 2022.
At Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, aspiring champions Kakamega Homeboyz FC lost two crucial points that could facilitate their first league title triumph hopes come closer after being forced to a 1-1 draw by Wazito FC.
Homeboyz who are yearning for their maiden Premier League title were the first to break up the deadlock in the 50th minute through Sunday Mutuku who tapped in David Okoth’s corner kick beating Wazito custodian Zamu Omar Adisa.
Wazito who are in a battle to survive relegation levelled matters with 5 minutes towards the end of play after a superb header from substitute Eric Otieno, the game ending 1-1 in Kakamega.
At Thika Municipal Stadium in Kiambu county, record holders Gor Mahia FC went to a barren draw with 2018 Sportpesa Shield champions Kariobangi Sharks FC.
K’ogalo’s stalemate against Sharks, means the two sides have recorded their first draw in their all meetings since 2017 when Kariobangi gained promotion to the top tier league.
At Ruaraka Grounds Nairobi, “Simba Wa Nairobi” Nairobi City Stars FC drew 0-0 with FKFPL debutantes Kenya Police FC.
