Vybz Kartel In Need of Urgent Surgery, Remains in Prison

  • Vybz Kartel suffers from Graves’ Disease and a heart condition and surgery is necessary to avoid a potentially fatal outcome.
  • He has been in prison since 2011.

Renowned international music sensation Vybz Kartel continues his relentless battle for freedom within the judicial system, but now he faces a pressing and critical challenge—his deteriorating health and the very threat to his survival.

In a recently obtained medical affidavit, his physician alerted authorities that his Graves’ Disease and heart condition had worsened significantly, emphasizing the urgent need for surgery to avoid a potentially fatal outcome.

During exclusive interviews, Kartel’s legal representative expressed concerns about the inhumane conditions in which he is being held, asserting that these circumstances are endangering his life.

In the face of these difficulties, Kartel’s son stated that they will continue to pray for the best possible outcome.

Human rights attorney Isat Buchanan stressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “Mr Palmer’s illness is genuinely life-threatening.”

Who is Vybz Kartel?

Known to millions of fans worldwide as entertainer Vybz Kartel, Adidja Palmer is widely recognized as the King of Dancehall.

However, over the past week, he has been subjected to solitary confinement for 23 hours a day due to an alleged violation involving a cell phone

Unfortunately, these stringent lockdown conditions, with a lack of air circulation, no access to water, and a bucket serving as a toilet, have further exacerbated his health issues.

Buchanan, who visited Kartel on Memorial Day, attested to the worsening state of his health.

Buchanan elaborated, saying, “His neck was visibly swollen to the point where you couldn’t fasten a shirt with an 18.5-inch collar, illustrating the severity of his current condition.

His face has also experienced swelling. Moreover, due to his reliance on glasses, his eyes are now protruding as a result of his health challenges.”

Buchanan has reached out to the superintendent of the prison responsible for the lockdown order, as well as national law enforcement officials in Jamaica, to address these concerns.
