Renowned activist and MCA Robert Alai has recently voiced his deep concern regarding the increasing addiction to substances known as Kuber and Ndovu among Kenyan youth in high schools and colleges.

Alai, known for his outspoken nature on social issues, has brought attention to the alarming consequences these substances are having on individuals and their families.

Kuber and Ndovu, both synthetic drugs, have gained popularity among young people due to their accessibility and affordability. Kuber is a synthetic opioid, while Ndovu is a powerful stimulant. These substances, often sold as small packets or pills, have become prevalent in schools and campuses, leading to a significant rise in addiction rates.

Robert Alai calls on DCI

Alai’s remarks highlight the urgent need for the government to take swift action in addressing this crisis. He emphasizes the devastating impact these drugs have on families, as addiction can lead to strained relationships, financial struggles, and mental health issues.

He has called upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to prioritize anti-narcotics efforts and crack down on the production, distribution, and sale of Kuber and Ndovu. Alai questions whether the existing anti-narcotics initiatives are effectively combating the problem and calls for a more robust and coordinated response to protect the youth and safeguard families.

“Many Kenyan young people in high schools and colleges are now addicted to these things called Kuber and Ndovu. Govt MUST move with speed and crack down with speed on these things. It’s killing families. Hello
DCI_Kenya, do we have anti-narcotics still?,” he questioned.

Battle of addiction

The battle against drug addiction requires a multi-faceted approach that involves collaboration between law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and the community at large. It is hoped that Alai’s call for action will prompt a swift response from authorities and ignite a concerted effort to address this pressing issue.
