Real Madrid Confident Vinicius Junior Will Stay Despite Racist Abuse

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his belief that winger Vinicius Junior will not leave the club, following the Brazilian player’s recent experience of racist abuse during a match.

Despite the incident, Ancelotti believes Vinicius’ love for football and Real Madrid will keep him committed to the club.

Real Madrid loss to Valencia

Vinicius was subjected to chants from sections of the crowd at the Mestalla during Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Valencia. The game was temporarily halted in the second half for 10 minutes as the visibly upset 22-year-old approached the referee, pointing towards fans whom he believed had directed racist abuse at him.

In the closing moments of the match, Vinicius was shown a red card for violent conduct following an altercation with Valencia striker Hugo Duro.

Ancelotti, in a press conference, addressed the situation and expressed his confidence in Vinicius’ loyalty to Real Madrid. He stated, “I do not think he will leave because he loves football and he loves Real Madrid. His love for the club is great, and he wants to have his career here.”

Despite the challenging circumstances, Ancelotti revealed that Vinicius has not lost hope. The manager plans to assess the suspension the player receives and adjust his rest days accordingly. If Vinicius is suspended for two games, Ancelotti intends to grant him a week off to ensure he is fully prepared for the match against Athletic Bilbao. However, if the suspension is only for one game, the Brazilian winger will be in contention to face Sevilla.

The incident highlights the ongoing issue of racism in football and the need for stronger measures to combat such behavior. Ancelotti’s support for Vinicius sends a clear message that the club stands firmly against racism and supports its players in the face of such abuse.

Decision

Real Madrid and Vinicius now await the decision regarding his suspension, and the club will continue to offer support to the player during this difficult time. Ancelotti remains optimistic about Vinicius’ future at Real Madrid, reaffirming the player’s commitment to the club and his determination to overcome adversity.
