- Detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit and KRA officials have raided a premise in Nakuru County following reports of counterfeit alcoholic drinks bearing fake KRA stamps.
- Over 120 cartons of assorted alcoholic drinks affixed with counterfeit KRA stamps and 2 cartons of bottle caps were seized.
- The estimated value of the goods seized was Sh730,000, and the total tax loss was Sh342,482.
Detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit, in conjunction with officials from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), have successfully raided a premise in the Pipeline area of Nakuru County.
The joint team of law enforcers conducted the raid following reports of the distribution of counterfeit alcoholic drinks bearing fake KRA stamps.
Nakuru County recoveries
The detectives were able to seize over 120 cartons of assorted alcoholic drinks that were affixed with counterfeit KRA stamps. The counterfeit alcoholic drinks comprised 79 cartons of Spark vodka, 26 of Bob vodka, 17 of Best vodka, and 1 carton of Boss vodka.
Additionally, 2 cartons full of assorted bottle caps were also recovered.
The estimated value of the goods seized was Sh730,000, and the total tax loss was Sh342,482. This is a significant loss to the government, and it is believed that the seized counterfeit alcoholic drinks were part of a wider distribution network.

Following the seizure, a notice of seizure was issued for the recovered goods. The detectives have launched an investigation to apprehend the owner of the unlicensed business, who is believed to be part of a larger criminal syndicate.

The seizure of these counterfeit goods sends a strong message to those involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit products that their illegal activities will not be tolerated.
The joint operation by the Economic Crimes Unit and the KRA is part of an ongoing effort to curb the production and distribution of counterfeit products in the country.
