A young man rented all 51 seats of a Nairobi-bound bus from Kisumu. Witnesses say he recently sold a piece of land in Nyakach for an undisclosed amount. The man said he wanted a quiet, peaceful trip with no noise. Residents were shocked as the empty bus left the station with only him inside. Social media users have nicknamed him “The VIP Passenger.” The Unusual Scene at Kisumu Bus Terminal Kisumu residents were left shocked after a young man rented an entire bus and travelled alone to Nairobi. The incident happened on Sunday and quickly attracted a crowd at the Kisumu bus terminal. Witnesses say the man, believed to be in his early 30s, recently sold a piece of land in Nyakach. Instead of taking a normal public transport seat, he surprised everyone by booking all 51 seats in the bus. He Wanted Peace and Quiet According to one of the bus attendants, the man said he did not like noise and wanted a peaceful journey. This unusual request forced other travellers who had planned to board the same bus to find alternative vehicles. Residents React to the Strange Trip The man was seen wearing flashy clothes and sunglasses as he sat alone by the window, waving as the empty bus left the terminal. Some people stayed behind just to witness the rare moment. One resident commented in concern, saying: “He has a right to enjoy his wealth, but I hope he invests wisely.” Plans to Start a Business in Nairobi Details about his financial status remain unclear, but sources say he intends to invest in a business once he arrives in Nairobi. His bold move has already gone viral, earning him the nickname “The VIP Passenger” on social media.

A 40-year-old Russian woman, Maria Shchetinina, was arrested for running unlicensed tantric sessions. Police raided the venue after complaints about “sexually indecent” online promotions. She allegedly violated Thailand’s foreign employment laws by working outside her permit. Authorities confiscated teaching materials and promotional items for investigation. The arrest mirrors another similar case on the island earlier this year. Arrest Over Tantric Lessons A Russian national, Maria Shchetinina, also known as Maria Sly Love, has been arrested in Koh Phangan after authorities accused her of running weekly tantric classes for tourists. The sessions, held behind the Ethos restaurant, reportedly cost 400 baht and included meditation, tantric massage, and what she described as “sacred sexuality.” How Police Intervened Police officers raided the area on 4 November following complaints about online adverts that residents considered inappropriate. Body-camera footage captured officers entering the room while a class was underway, with students seated cross-legged on yoga mats as Shchetinina led the session. During the inspection, officers reviewed her passport and work permit, which listed her occupation as a customer relations manager for a property management company. Authorities said the activities she was performing were outside the scope of her authorised work. Charges and Seized Materials Police Lieutenant Colonel Winit Boonchit confirmed that the suspect was charged with working illegally and conducting classes without official permission. She was taken to Koh Phangan Police Station for further questioning. Investigators also seized her notebooks, flyers, enrolment slips, and promotional materials featuring her photo and QR code—items used to market the sessions to tourists. Growing Concern Over Similar Activities Officials say the case was triggered by rising concerns from locals about “risque” social media promotions targeting visitors. The incident comes months after a Polish YouTuber was also arrested for organising “sex yoga” lessons on the same island. A Popular Hub for Spiritual Tourism Koh Phangan, known globally for its relaxed atmosphere, spiritual retreats, and vibrant nightlife, continues to attract yoga lovers, backpackers, and festival-goers. However, authorities are now paying closer attention to activities that may breach cultural norms or violate Thailand’s strict employment laws.
