Renowned actor Dan Sonko made an announcement on his Facebook page on Thursday, July 6th, disclosing that his romantic relationship with actress Winnie Bwire has come to an end.
The news surprised many of their fans and shed light on their decision to transition into a friendship centered around their business ventures.
In a heartfelt post, the father of two directly addressed his followers, expressing the need to clarify the situation.
“I surrender to the pressure,” Sonko wrote. “Yes, Bwire Ndubi and I are no longer romantically involved. However, we remain good friends. When it comes to love and family, everyone has their own path. We still maintain a respectful business relationship.”

The actor, who is based in Mombasa, emphasized his profound admiration for Bwire, acknowledging her as an independent “Queen” in her own right.
While he admitted his deep affection for her, the decision to part ways was reached amicably between them.
Sonko also made it clear that their separation should not be misconstrued as a divorce since they were not married.
“Now that you have the truth from the source,” Sonko continued, urging his fans to disregard any alternative narratives that may be circulating.
He called upon his followers to set the record straight and refrain from engaging in idle gossip or baseless speculation.

For the time being, Sonko expressed his intention to embrace his newfound single status.
Although Sonko revealed that he is currently a “Lone Ranger” and not actively seeking a new relationship, he concluded his post with an optimistic message: #LoveConquersAll.
It is worth noting that Sonko’s wife, Dru, tragically passed away in 2017 shortly after giving birth to their second child.
Dan has been dating Winfred Bwire, who disclosed that she was friends with Dan’s late wife.
Bwire explained that she knew Dan even before he married Dru. “I got to know Dan through the acting industry, and his wife (Dru) was my friend,” she shared.

However, she clarified that she did not have a romantic relationship with Dan while his wife was alive.
“I don’t believe I have betrayed her. I never anticipated that he would become my partner at any point because he had a family at that time,” she explained.
The father of two also revealed that he removed his wedding ring months after Dru’s passing as a symbol of embarking on a new chapter in his life.
“It is a relationship that has ended. I still cherish the memories of my first wife and sometimes wish she were here to witness our sons growing up. But I have faith because she did not choose the day to depart,” he expressed.
