  • The Kenyantrend entertainment department created a list of East Africa’s most popular artists in 2023.
  • According to the ranking, Kenyan artists have overtaken the popularity of bongo musicians, who had previously dominated the rankings.
  • Tanzanian and Ugandan artists’ dormancy appears to be coming to an end in East Africa. The Kenyan Music business is expanding into new areas.

Although some fans may still be in love with bongo musicians because of their beautifully composed content, the majority of Kenyans believe that the Kenyan entertainment sector is on the rise. Content creators are going above and beyond to win the hearts of fans everywhere.

Otile Brown

He is often regarded as the humblest artist in East Africa.

Otile Brown has never been linked to public stunts to promote his songs. The content speaks for itself, encouraging more people to fall in love with his music.

If you haven’t listened to his songs, you’re missing out on a lot from the vocalist. Otile Brown is one of the most popular artists in the country. His YouTube account is the most influential in Kenya’s music industry.

Diamond Platinumz

Diamond has been incredible over the years. His songs have not only become street anthems, but they also remain one of the most beloved in East Africa.

Even though the fact that his songs are in Swahili, Diamond has a large following in non-Swahili-speaking countries. He receives the most love from supporters whenever he leaves his motherland.

Diamond, like other great stars in Africa, is the most followed artist. His social media accounts have almost over millions of followers combined.

Diamond is well-known on his label, Wasafi, for his support of fellow musicians like Harmonize, Rayvanny, Lavalava, and Zuchu, among others.

Sautitisol

Sautisol is incredible. Every time they release a song, it becomes a hit.

The band is made up of five artists who have dominated music charts for the past 15 years.

Sautisol, like the other great names from East Africa, has done well for Kenya. In Africa, their songs have garnered various honors, including an AFRIMMA nomination.

Their social media following is extensive, and they are always ready to offer support.

Khalgraph Jones

Also known as the OG and Omollo.

Khaligraph Jones is a shining example of perseverance. Every year after his breakout single “Yego,” the rapper has released one hit after another.

In 2019, The OG won the AFRIMMA award, defeating huge stars like Ghana’s Sarkodie and Nigeria’s MI Abaga.

The real OG is one of the most terrifying artists to ever take on freestyle music. His swift tongue can spit out a hundred phrases in a minute, leaving you flabbergasted.

Khaligraph has had a lot of support over the years. Whenever he performs, the audience is packed. Because of his English accent, Khaligraph was recently considered as a head of Diamond, and the rest bongo stars on foreign shows.

Wakadinali

The three-person music team is the first to move. In 2018, they released their first breakthrough chart-topping single, “Morio Anzenza.”

Even though they sing in’sheng,’ Wakadinali is credited with introducing trap and drill hip-hop to East Africa.

Wakadinali is well-known among Ghetto youths. Their ability to flow on trap and drill beats has earned them a brand.

Wakadinali is the only group of hardcore hip-hop artists with a full week of gigs scheduled.

In conclusion, the abilities rising in East Africa are nothing short of extraordinary. After their outstanding performance in the global talent contest, Ugandan Ghetto Kids demonstrated why East Africa is a proud nation.
