The Kenyan government has set November 30, 2022 as the final deadline for phasing out the old generation passport to the new East African biometric passport.

The Interior Ministry in a statement date 22 September, 2022, reiterated the planned move, informing the public that Kenya is bound to migrate fully to the new passport by end of November.

The new-generation e-passports, which replaces the dark blue document, features a microchip containing data about the passport holder and allows information stored on the chip to be verified with the information visually displayed on the holder’s passport booklet.
